Cowpeas-3-weeks

Cowpeas do it all! They grow really fast—as you can see in this three-week planting—quickly making a tight canopy to keep the soil cool and moist and suppress weeds. Roots loosen deep into the subsoil and add soil carbon, while aboveground biomass is outstanding for a legume. Nitrogen fixation is high. And this soil-building cover crop doubles up as feed for poultry and livestock.
