The Coming Storm

*Table of Contents for The Coming Storm Section is at bottom of this page.*

Now for the bad news…

This section will deal with the converging crises of our time: loss of agricultural soils, pollution of the environment and water systems, climate change, pandemics, peak oil and its implications, and the disastrous state of public health.

Since our food choices have critical relationships with most of our emerging crises, I begin this section with “How We Eat…”, a short talk I gave at an alternative energy fair; and a longer piece, “Industrial Food and Its Discontents”, in which I contrast the ills of the industrial food system and its offerings, and the homestead alternatives.

James Howard Kunstler has graciously given me permission to post his “Forecast for 2009”. It is well worth reading.
